CHARLOTTE,
NC. – March 1, 2007 – CC Communications, Inc. partners with Champions for Education to produce a number of online communication systems for The Wachovia Championship PGA TOUR golf tournament event in Charlotte each year. One of those collaborative projects, known as The Wachovia Championship Volunteer Management System, has been selected as a Finalist in the 2006 Blue Diamond Awards, which recognizes local achievements in technology.
In results recently announced by The Charlotte Chamber of Commerce Information Technology Council (ITC), the project partnership between CC Communications and Champions for Education was named as a Finalist in the category of Non-Profit Excellence in Information Technology. Finalists and sponsors will be recognized at a Champagne Toast event to be held March 8, 2007 at The VanLandingham Estates in Charlotte.
The Wachovia Championship PGA TOUR event relies heavily on efforts contributed by over 2,500 Volunteers each year. The Wachovia Championship Volunteer Management System, designed and produced by CC Communications, is an on-demand application that helps manage the entire Volunteer life cycle. It is a one-of-a-kind system among PGA TOUR events. The Web-based Intranet system is utilized by the Volunteer Manager and all Volunteer Team Leaders to manage, schedule and communicate with over 40 Volunteer teams and committees ranging from 12 to over 200 members.
The Volunteer Management System facilitates recruiting, enlisting, and organizing of Volunteer teams based on experience, interest and work preferences. The system is also used as a tool to manage, motivate and evaluate Volunteer performance, and it consistently assists with retention of quality Volunteers year after year. Over 70% of 2005 Volunteers returned for the 2006 season.
Most importantly, the online system removes the need for costly large physical management staff and reduces paperwork and files. This minimizes necessary overhead and maximizes dollars for charity. $1MM was donated to Teach for America, the Wachovia Championship's primary charity, in 2006 alone. $500,000 seed money was donated to the Teach for America initiative locally in Mecklenburg County. In the last four years of The Wachovia Championship PGA TOUR event, nearly $5.7MM has been donated to numerous charities.
